Linda Rogers, Associate Director

Linda Rogers, Ph. D., RN, LMFT, has worked with couples for over 30 years helping them along the path to building a safe and responsive connection.  She is certified by the Internation Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy as an EFT therapist and supervisor. As such, she provides ongoing individual and group EFT consultation to other therapists interested in learning couples therapy, EFT or working towards certification in Emotionally Focused Couples or Family Therapy. She is committed to providing opportunities for therapists to learn to work more effectively with couples and families by providing ongoing EFT consultation and supervision.

In addition to her formal education as an RN, her Master's level education in Clinical Psychology and Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, she has been privileged to receive excellent ongoing professional training with the leaders in our field. She began her intensive work in marriage and family therapy with an internship with Jay Haley, one of the founders of Family Therapy. Her increasing interest in couples therapy led her to conduct her doctoral research on resilience and to train in the models that have proven most effective: John Gottman's Marital Therapy and Susan Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). The end result has been an integration of theories that she believes optimizes her effectiveness in working with individuals, couples and families.

As an adjunct professor at the Northern Virginia Campus of Virginia Tech, she teaches couples therapy to graduate level students. She has been an AAMFT Clinical Member since 1981 and a clinical supervisor since 1989. She is also an active volunteer with Give An Hour, an organization of clinicians providing therapy to returning veterans and their families.
