Dr. Angela Huebner




Dr. Angela Huebner is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development at Virginia Tech, housed at the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church, VA. Dr. Huebner has conducted family therapy with individuals, couples and families, both at Virginia Tech’s Center for Family Services and in private practice. She teaches graduate level courses in Family Systems Theory, Structural/Strategic Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Research Methods and Advanced Research Methods as part of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. She has completed advanced training in Internal Family Systems Therapy as well as Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. She has also completed the Level 1 LifeForce Yoga Practitioner training which harnesses breath for mood management. Her recent qualitative work has focused on stressors facing military families both during deployment and reintegration. She has also conducted numerous evaluation studies on the impact of military support services (e.g. Operation Military Kids; Military Family Life Consultant Program; Military One Source). Her scholarly work has appeared in Family Relations, Journal of Adolescent Health, Youth & Society, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, Journal of Child & Family Studies, and Child & Adolescent Social Work Journal.


Dr. Huebner completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and her Master's and Doctoral degrees in Family Studies at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Virginia.
